Photos NOT OK to edit
I want to be able to use the laptop as an immediate viewer of images taken, instead of the camera's monitor.

The camera is a D80 and was pointed towards Nikon Capture software, which is around £100. Then looked for possible alternatives and came up with ToneUp which, OK, is only £8.50, so you would not expect a direct comparison. The problem here is that the USB connection to the camera was not being recognised. Fair enough, go to D80 manual. Ah, it shows Camera Contro Pro. Get that, but still the D80 is not recognised from the laptop, although normal download of images taken on the D80 happens.

Comments and/or suggestions please.

Thanks in advance.

There should be 2 ways of using the D80, USB PtP or with the Mass Storage protocol. These should be settable in the settings.

USB Mass Storage makes the camera look like a removable drive, whereas usb ptp is the one you will use for connection to camera pro. This is software dependant. Certain versions of windows do not like it, and software needs to be written for the camera as far as I know.

Many thanks, Garbz. Will work on that.

Thanks Garbz. Got that working. Excellent.
