My D200 arrived in the mail late today. I don't have a lens yet, but the feel of this camera in your hand is awesome. It definitely has a little heft to it. It makes my old D40 feel like a flimsy little paper weight.

Oh well, I have to go tomorrow to purchase a 18-55mm lens and a compact flash card.

This is going to be fun.

Stuck in Cuba at the moment, and the 18-55mm is the only Nikon lens that the Exchange is carrying.

I have a 50mm 1.8 on the way that I purchased from a forum member. I'm saving for a wide angle lens for some car photography once I return from deployment.

Is there a particular lens that you'd recommend?

The 50MM F/1.8 is cool. I just noticed you were held up in Guantanamo. That sucks. The 18-55MM is cool, but I bet it is SERIOUSLY overpriced. I mean it is a kit lens. Yes it will take some nice pictures, and it sure is a good intro lens, but if you've used the D40 before and stepping up to the D200, should maybe step up in the lens department as well.

But then, if I got a new toy, I'd be eager to start using it too. Heh.

If you have a D40, why not just use the lens off of that. Or am I missing something here?

    I'm guessing he/she sold it.

    Yep,
I sold the D40 to fund the D200.
