Yongnuo yn-560 triggers/recievers

Hi i have a yongnuo yn-560! It fires off wireless when im using my strobes so i know its picking up a signal from my trigger and reciever for my strobes but if i just put my trigger on my camera it wont pick it up, and even putting the speedlite directly onto the cameras hotshoe it wont pick up, ive tried using different modes etc what am i doing wrong? I know i dont need a pocket wizard, would an elinchrome sync chord be the answer? I dont get why my camera wont pick it up, its a d7000! Thanks

The trigger needs to reset. Put the trigger on with everything turned off then try it again. I experienced the same issue but eventually fixed it.
