My #1 tip for better 'sunset photos'.....

Look at the sunset, enjoy the view....then turn around and see how the warm low-angle light makes everything look more interesting. Part of the evolution of a photographer, is learning to not just look for nice looking things, but looking for nice lighting....because nice lighting makes anything look good.

Yes, good advice; that was the #4 tip in the 30 Tips article! I read all three, and would say that the advice given was pretty good.
 
Tip # 13 - ditch the filters
Tip # 29 - use a graduated ND filter

but overall good tips
