im not sure how to frame these
(i know theyre not great, but theyre a gift for zoe's parents.
theyre not into the formal portrait thing so i took some snapshots

Man... I really WANT to like that first one. It's a good idea... the light spilling through the blinds/shutters, but I feel something is lacking and can't decide what it is. Maybe the angle? Maybe the quality of the light?

It might be all the colors. Did you try black and white for this one?

I agree with Pete, the colors in the first one are hard for me because they are competeting with her face. I would try a black and white conversion and see if that helps bring her face to the main focal point. The on camera flash on the second it too harsh for me.

I feel something is lacking and can't decide what it is.

I know what I think it is....the bear in the background. If it wasn't for the bear it would be a really great photo.

Wow. What a difference! It's like a whole different photo.

I think it's an improvement.
