Zoom Comparison

I'm trying to find out what the difference between 200mm and 400mm is.
Obviously it's twice the distance but I've never looked through either.

Does anyone have a link, or maybe personal pictures,
depicting the same image at say 55mm ,100mm, 300mm
or anywhere in between... or beyond???

This may not show you the range you are looking for, but these are of the same subject, shot from the same spot. I used an 18-135mm zoom, shooting the first at 18mm, the second at 135mm.

You might want to look go to a local camera store (take your camera with you) and ask to try the lens on the camera. Take a couple of test shots in the store and see how things come out.

That's exactly what i wanted to see.

I'd love to take my camera for a test run, IF I had one.

It was confusing enough deciding on Canon's 30D.
Then I started looking at lenses...
landscape... wide-angle... telephoto...

I just don't know which one to get.
That's why I was hoping to see the difference in zooms.
