I have the Sigma 70-300. It's great for the price. Check out my thread in the photo gallery to see some sample shots.

The sharpness is "acceptable", but I would get a cable release and use a tripod always, to maximize this.

If you have the cash or have to save up get a true prime macro that is 1:1 reproduction.......and you can use it as a prime telephoto also

Well, unfortunatly Im on a tight budget.
Im going to NYC for a few days and then back to college so Ill have quite a few big expenses (including tuition).

I have the cable release and tripod already heh so Im definatly considering the Sigma lens. Ill look around, maybe I can get a good deal on it somewhere.

You should be able to find it for around $150.

You might want to check out the Tamron 28-300.
