Cierva autogiro...built under licence in the UK, France and Germany before WW2. This one by AVRO, a 671, I think. The RAF bought some for evaluation, this started life as a civilian but was requisitioned during the war. autogyros are still about...the most modern incarnation being the cavalon i had about £150k to spare, I'd buy one!
