Hmmm, the negs also look fogged to me ... not sure if that is being caused by your taking picture of the neg.

Development will affect the highlights ... when I member trying to use the Zone System it was expose for (place) the shadow in a Zone...

I remember having a Ricoh half frame camera once ... I used to load slide film in it and shot everything as a diptych in a full frame...

Doesn't look like Canon has date stamping. I think most current Panasonic G-series cameras have text stamp (that's what they call it)...
