Konica Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II Film Scanner

Have had this scanner for a couple of years now and was very happy with it. Recently all my scans are dark by at least 1-2 stops and the colors aren't as accurate any more. Could the scanner be going bad? I have read about a IT8 calibration slide that I can use to make global corrections...

need advice on filters and step up rings

I use polarizers frequently when doing landscape photography, so I find it more convenient to have a separate polarizer on each lens. For star filters or graduated neutral density filters, I use the cokin holder and have step down rings for each size.

what am i doing wrong? focus/sharpness/lighting help needed...

In all these shots you still haven't moved the aperature away from f/4. Why are you using manual mode? You need to use a smaller aperature such as f/8, and you need to use the flash to get a fast enough shutter speed when using f/8. Forget uping the ISO setting. 400-800 is too grainy. stick...

Apeture? What do you use it for??

HOW AND WHEN TO SELECT THE APERATURE I shoot exclusively in Aperature Priority mode. The aperature I use depends on the circumstances of the image. 1. A larger aperature will allow faster shutter speeds. This comes in handy for shooting distant wildlife, or fast moving sports, or night...
