Thank you - I appreciate the clarification. I was reading people's feedback on Amazon for various cameras and it became confusing with some referencing the zoom stats when talking about close up pictures of flowers etc. Thanks again.

I want to buy a point & shoot camera for my 18 yr old daughter. She has a portable microscope and studies insects. Any recommendations? I'm confused as to whether it is the zoom capabilities or the ability to focus at 1 cm. Or both? Thanks for any advice. I'd like to stay under $500 if...
