  • Actually controlling swelling through the first few stages and even later stages is important. When I'd get someone post-op who finally came to outpatient PT, I'd always recommend gradient compression socks/stockings. Swelling slows down healing.

    Retired Physical Therapist that I am, I'm hoping that Discharge Planning at the hospital is or has set you guys up with a walker, bedside commode and possibly a scooter that your husband can kneel the effected leg on for faster mobility. Elevation at this stage is supremely important.

    Right now he cannot put any weight or pressure on the foot..he had a screw put in and the doc told him we will be doing this operation again if the screw comes loose...thank you for advice/and thank you for your email....i will stay in touch..elizabeth
