How to use your built in Flash in the sun

You just used a lot of vocabulary that is foreign to me, that's all. I need to review my manual again and read something on basic photography with definitions of the vocabulary. I am rusty, and the last time I read up on this stuff was awhile ago. I've been in school with no time to spend on my...

How to use your built in Flash in the sun

Yes, the manual is a PITA to read! And I have read pretty much the whole thing at one point. I just don't understand a lot of things. When I say I'm a beginner, I mean I truly am a beginner! If you are using Nikon language, I'm not getting it, lol. Sorry. I appreciate you trying to help.

I agree with schwetty, I didn't understand anything kundalini was trying to say, lol. At least I could tell what schwetty was getting at with his pictures, even though I don't know what metering is. :(

    First Male Portrait - C&C Needed - Lighting/Shadow Etc

I'm definitely not expert, but just looking at it right off I would suggest cropping some of the empty space off the top of the picture.

When I am using auto focus, it tends to focus on everything but what I want it to focus on. Like, if I want to focus on the face, it wants to focus on the shirt, or whatever else. Not all the time, but often, and I have to keep playing around with it to get it corrected. Might you have any tips...

Tirediron: In #2, I just happened to catch a candid shot. He was playing on the railings and I just snapped a couple of pictures. I agree, the background is busy and the cropping is a bit awkward. I have no idea what happened with his face in #3. I really like the colors in that picture...

Again, I'm a complete beginner here! Lighting is not my best friend yet, and I have lots to learn! This site and the advice I am getting has been wonderful! I can tell when my pictures are overexposed, I just don't know how to fix it. :( So, here are a few more samples. Let me know what your...

I'm very new at all this, and this is my first shoot! I'd like some C&C

I have read my manual pretty much from front to back so I can get to know the ins and outs of my camera functions. But, it is bit confusing when you know nothing about all these bells and whistles! lol I took the information that I did understand and went out and took these pictures. I need a...

Thanks for the feedback! It was very sunny and bright that day. How can I prevent overexposure on days like that? I plan to read up on exposure, focus, and lighting (or take a class) as much as I can so I can learn more. I wish I had someone to just show me! lol
