Thanks once again for the feedback/compliments :)
The pp, as Inst!nct quite rightly suggests is Lightroom's 'Antique Photo' filter. Have to be a bit careful as it has a tendancy to overexpose in areas.
It's quite intimidating at first but you soon get used to it after you start getting some...
Thanks for the feedback and compliments.
I really enjoy street photography, trying to capture the atmosphere of a foreign city through the details is a challenge, but an enjoyable one! :D
I was worried that the pp technique was blowing out the highlights a touch?
Hi all, haven't posted for a while, really snowed under at work.
Hope you enjoy a selection of shots from my most recent holiday in Barcelona last month.
Tried to get some people shots, locals and tourists to get a feel for the place. Barcelona is a very characterful city, certainly...
Taken on a rainy grey day at Loch Lomond in Scotland of a family looking out over the water in silence.
70-200L @ f/4, bit of work in Lightoom (sepia filter), high pass filter applied in Photoshop as well as a touch of sharpening.
Not sure which crop works better because they send different...
Thanks for the feedback :)
This is a selection of the interesting ones, I also have quite a few more dull examples. Tbh, it's a case of waiting around and keeping one's eyes open. As soon as you see the opportunity pull out the camera and get the shot.
Many thanks. :thumbup::blushing:
Haven't posted in a while, bandwidth issues with Photobucket apparently!
Here are a selection of details taken on the streets of Amstrerdam (people shots added to people section).
Mostly done with the 70-200L f/4 (love this lens!), pp done in Lightroom to convert to black and white. Gone for...

Gone for quite a high contrast b&w...
Apparently you can!
The girlfriend's brother has just purchased a 450D (and on my advice a 50mm).
Thought I'd snap him with my 'old skool' () 400D. Used my own nifty fifty and Speedlight.
Lightroom pp for the selenium tone. Imported to CS3 for high pass sharpening and a touch of contrast...
Lovely colours, a beautiful photo.
My own personal opinion would be to crop the bottom just infront of those rocks in the middle of the lake.
I think the rocks under the water's surface in the foreground take away from that lively 'mirror effect' in the rest of the shot.
:lmao: Totally agreed, classic line.
The boyfriend of one of my colleagues at work apparently owns a DSLR of some sort. According to my work colleague, "you just can't take a bad photo with it". :er: I've yet to see either of their photos.
The nicest compliment (sort of), is when you show...
In some respects I think it has somewhat changed me. Now when out on the streets I find myself being more observant, looking for interesting details that would be worth shooting. Certainly I believe you 'see more' when you look through photographic eyes.
I'm looking to get some filters (in particular ND grads for some landscape work) and I've been steered towards the Cokin P Series.
For those that don't know, these are square filters that fit on the front of the lens via an adaptor like so:
My landcape lens is a Sigma 10-20 and I'm...
Some shots from a recent trip to Geneva (Switzerland).
Autumn was in full flow with greens turning to golden yellow and brown.
Here are a few details.
Everyone rides bikes in Geneva.
Taken with the 70-200L
C&C welcome as always. :)
