Hello everyone
I know this is going to sound the wrong way round, but a friend wants me to do some jewellery shots for his jewellery website and he sent me a light tent yesterday (it is from calumnet). I have never used one before and in fact never done macro photography before. Can anyone point...
Hi Guys
I have decided to put 150 images onto a DVD for a client (I haven't been asked to, but I thought it would be a good service to offer in the future and I want to iron out the glitches now). My first major problem has been Nero, it has been a little odd. The first time I tried it allowed...
Hi guys
I have just downloaded the free 1 month trial of Lightroom after many rave reviews. So far it is great, however, I have a question. I have just used it to create a slideshow thing for my images. Previously I used an FTP programme and if I had made any errors I could go in myself and...
What no new 5D? What are they doing? I have been waiting for the new one. Do they roll out any others, or it that it for their new output?
I can't believe it, I thought with the new Nikon D300 that they would have to bring something new out. Pah!
Hi there
Thanks for all your thoughts. Apparently he has one of those lighting tents, and I will go down and use it. And then I think he wants me to do loads of tidying up in photoshop. I understand people who do this on a regular basis have mini lights, with mini snoots. I imagine that is for...
Hi guys
I have a Canon 5D and I usually do weddings, events, portraits etc, so my lenses very much reflect that (85mm 1.2, 50mm 1.4, 24mm 1.4 and 70-200 2.8). A friend has put me in touch with a guy who owns a jewellery shop and who wants photos done of his jewellery. Now at this stage I am not...
I just hope you are never unlucky enough to work as a free-lance. You spend hours on a shoot, all for someone who works for the company (with all the perks of working, like a regular salary, sick leave etc) does the same shot as they are a keen armature. Did you shoot from the same angle? Did...
Thanks for all this guys. Lots of stuff for me to think about. I am going to have to look into colour spaces a lot more (it is one of these things I have been fairly ignorant of). I don't think I have changed any settings recently. I wonder whether I have noticed it now because I don't usually...
Hi there
OK, let me preface this by saying I convert literally hundreds of RAWs a week and have never had (or noticed perhaps?) this problem before. My work flow is that I go through my images in Zoombrowser (the free software that comes with Canon) to decide which ones I want to keep, and then...
Save up and buy a Canon EF 50mm 1.4, it should cost you about $300-$400 (sorry I am not sure exactly as I live in the UK). It will revolutionise your photography life. Not only is it great for low light concert shots but you will find that it is an excellent portrait lens on the XT
Yes, it is hard knowing how to price yourself. I understand about pricing yourself by how confident you feel in your abilities, but sometimes you need to know what ballpark you are in. I haven't done these types of events, so I am not a lot of help. I found this for you, which is the NUJ's guide...
Apologies if this has been raised recently, I couldn't find anything recent, but I need to buy a cheap new background. Some places say theirs is muslin, others say a synthetic mix, does anyone know which of these is preferable? (Or can anyone tell me anything better?)
Thanks!
Hi Guys
Appologies if this has been asked before, but thought it worth a go. I have an FTP bit to my site, where I upload photos for my clients to see, as I am sure most people on here do. My partner built me the website and made the FTP bit easy for me to use, if a little fiddly. I have to...
