    Odd one

Hah, I found it! It is a Atrophaneura Semperi. Couldn't find an english name. I do know that Atrophaneura means "red bodied" and there are more butterflies within that family. They are found in the Philippines and are on the endangered species list. That's about all I could find however.

    Odd one

..... the closest I can come to is the Scarlet mormon, but that one has a black body. This one has me baffled! Stunning pic though.

    Day out in the garden

hehehe, yeah I know, everyone shoots those lil' hoverflies. It was one of the first pics where I could capture the eyes sharply though :D so I thought to post it. Thanks for the nice critique!

    Day out in the garden

The weather was lovely today here in the Netherlands, so I wanted to do some gardening. I got distracted though by all the little crawlies who came out to see the sun. Here's a couple of them. Here's a little squashbug basking in the sun: A very tiny hoverfly: I was focusing on the...

    Marpissa Muscosa (Jumping Spider)

Well, it's been a while since I showed my face around here ;) Study, moving, working, it all ate up my time. But hey, summer is finally here, my study year is almost over and I just moved to a more rural area of the country so, taking pics is easier than ever. Yesterday I started exploring...

    Cat photoshoot

This is my bedroom, the ginger cat is mine, the black cat is his brother and is owned by my neighbour. They had this game going on: one would lie in front, the other in back, and they were willing to pose this time. It was a nice excercise in depth etc. I am curious as to how you think these...

It's not perfect, but I thought it was sweet :)

    Very first selfdeveloped film

Exactly *g* ... it was the common mistake most of us made. The more light you let fall on the paper through the enlarger, the longer the chemical process continues .... and the blacker the shades become :) I was trying to explain to one of my fellow students and he looked at me puzzled and...

    Very first selfdeveloped film

This is indeed a scan from a print I made in the darkroom. I didn't fiddle around with contrast in Photoshop, just tried to adjust the coloring a little cause it came out really pinkish from the scan. And yes, I was fiddling around mightily with filters in the darkroom itself so that I could...

    Very first selfdeveloped film

Thank you! It took me forever to get them developed though, I threw out more than I kept actually. I am still not satisfied with the contrast, and some areas are blown out. Analog photography is so very different form digital ... I can now imagine that analog photographers sometimes say that...

    Very first selfdeveloped film

I've recently started a studies, Communitation and Multi Media Design, and one of the things we are learning right now is photography. In the last quarter of this year we'll be covering digital photography, but for now, we are studying perspective. Our last assignment was to shoot perspective...

    Evil Spider Thingy!

    Evil Spider Thingy!

It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm still alive, but busy with moving house, working AND studying parttime so... Anyway, autumn has hit Holland and subsequently my garden and I couldn't resist taking a macro shot of the orb spider in the back

    Moonrise over Olympic Riviera

Karalee, it took some experimenting allright, I have a gazillion out of focus, underexposed or overexposed moonrises on my laptop now :) Settings were: Focal length: 7.2 mm Exposure time: 1.000 s Aperture f/2.0 I did some sprucing up in PS with a levels layer to make it a little...

Macro shot of an ant [insect alert!]

It is very nice to hear that a shot of mine inspired you to do something with your cam :) Macro lenses are more or less magnifying lenses: you screw them on the converter tube (in my case the tube makes my canon compatible for the macro lense) and when you set your camera to macro, you get a...

Macro shot of an ant [insect alert!]

Wow, thanks all for your compliments! I was amazed at the level of details I could get this up close. Psychodoughb0y, I got a macro converter, wide angle converter, telephoto converter and tube for the Canon G5 just before I went on my holiday to Greece. Cost me 175 euros in total. :D
