A couple weeks back I went camping and had a nice walk in the woods.
1. The newly rebuilt bridge.
2. An older bridge further upstream.
3. Ancient Runes!
4. The dragon in the woods.
5. The park was built by the CCC in the 30's
I recently discovered a park I had never heard of. Surprisingly, it's only half an hour from home. The stream flows through a narrow gorge and used to be home to several mills.
We have a local trade fair reenactment every year called the Fair at New Boston. Just a few shots on a gray, overcast day.
1. The Blacksmith
2. Automatic Bellows from 1800
3. The Magician
4. The Musician
5. The Clown
I've never really done any portraiture and, I'm not really set up for it but I thought I would give it a shot.
Nikon D7000, 35mm 1:1.8 prime on a tripod, using a remote. 4 LED bulbs in an the ceiling fan and natural light from the windows facing north. Backdrop was a heavy wool blanket that I...
Shooting in Mammoth cave presents some challenges. No flash. No Tripods. Very dim lighting most of the light is orange.
1. Toned the bright orange down to a sepia. Boosted contrast and sharpened a bit.
2. Toned down the orange, added contrast, sharpened and slightly tone-mapped. Hand held...
There aren't many flowers left out in the woods. The only lens I had with me was the 200-500 that I just got. It's heavy and hard to hold steady. I really kind of like this one. There's a lot going on with it.
I went camping last weekend and this little guy was hanging around my truck. He kept looking at himself in the reflections of the windows. Apparently, what he saw, scared the crap out of him.
I spent last week at Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio. It is a beautiful gorge with several waterfalls. I took almost 500 photos including some with an IR filter. These all used a 35mm 1.8 prime lens on a tripod. They were 30-45 second exposures.

While camping last weekend I took a walk in the woods and found an old dump truck sitting at the maintenance garage of the park. The rear axle was in the bed. I rather liked the way it turned out. This was a single image but I used it to create 5 images to simulate bracketed images. I then ran...
I had the opportunity to spend some time in the Great Saltpeter Cavern, a former show cave in Kentucky. Since I had my tripod, I decided to try some HDR. Interesting challenges shooting in a cave. Lots of moisture in the air, poor lighting, etc. C&C would be appreciated.
This was 5 exposures...
