I am having problems with Lightroom freezing up and giving me a (Not Responding) message in the top of the window. It seems to do this when I go to the Develop module and start editing an image.
Anyone with this problem, and with a possible fix? This is on a Windows 8.1 machine.
Hi everyone,
As I discussed in another thread, I have built a PC to use for my photo editing.
What monitors would you recommend to use that are around ~$200?
Is there a preference between TN, VA, or IPS panels? Other things to look for?
What about the following 2 monitors - which would be...
Hi all,
I am considering stepping away from the MacBook Pro world and building a PC for my photo editing. My mid-2009 MBP has just gotten slow and is time to either get a new one or build something else. I have also been considering building a NAS to backup files once they have gone through the...
Hi everyone,
I am considering replacing my original kit lens and my 55-200mm zoom with the Nikon 18-200mm. I am wondering if anyone has done the same, or has the 18-200mm and can compare the image quality of this lens to the others?
Will the only benefit be reducing the number of lenses in my...
Hi all,
I am going on a trip in a week and have looked at options for geotagging all of my photos from the different Caribbean islands I will be visiting.
Does anyone have any feedback on the Opteka GPN-1 unit for sale on Amazon? The reviews are very mixed...
Hi all,
I am going on a cruise in a week. I am wondering the best way to download my photos from SD cards on the trip without having to take my laptop. I have a 1TB external hard drive, and wondering if there is a way to do this without needing a computer.
Or would it be just as easy to grab...
I took these photos at my friend's place where he has a few beehives. Images of flying bees is quite difficult, and also kept me on my toes as I had never been around a hive. I did not want to anger them too much getting up close with my 50mm. This is where a 105mm macro would come in handy! I...
Due to the recent rising Mississippi River waters, a small peninsula community named "Mud Island" in Memphis has accumulated a lot of driftwood along it's banks. This is the aftermath of the receding waters.
This is my first attempt at using an ND filter to slow motion (in #4). C&C appreciated...
Hi all,
I noticed that my Nikon 55-200 VR lens has a rattle noise when it is off the camera. I haven not checked yet to see if the rattle occurs when on the camera.
Is this normal?
Sorry if this is a stupid/basic question, but I would like to learn and improve on my photography.
When taking a portrait using off-camera flash, what are the correct steps to take? I have heard to expose for the background, then add in flash to illuminate the person in the foreground.
So does...
Hi all,
Before I started using DSLRs, my interest in photography (outside of P&S cameras) started with some older film cameras that my father had (Minolta 35mm and Yashica MF).
I still have interest in film and would like to make some time for it if possible. I am wondering which camera would...
Hi all,
I know that many people recommend the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 lens for portraits, but are there other recommended ones?
I currently own the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 and know this is not recommended for portraits, particularly close ups, because of the distortion (although I know this can be corrected...
This is one of our miniature dachshunds, Bailee.
I am trying to improve my off-camera flash use. Used a shoot-thru umbrella with a speed light. Would there be a technique in post-processing to remove the visible umbrella in her eye?
Thank you for your C&C.
I took this picture at a local sno-cone stand. It's a pretty popular place for the locals, especially college kids, and I want to go back to get some more photos after dark. Its really cool at night with bright lights and colors. I found this wall around the back of the place interesting, a...
Hi all,
I am new to the topic of off-camera flash. I currently own a Neewer VK750 II i-TTL speedlight with my Nikon D7000. I am wanting to learn how to do off-camera flash and be able to modify the light properly.
My question is, what are the differences of using a speedlight vs. a monolight...
Hi all,
I am planning to do some photography for family, friends, and acquaintances to build a portrait portfolio. I am not yet in the position to start charging people, so I am doing this strictly complimentary.
Do I need to have the people that I do session for fill out any paperwork...
Has anyone on here put together a photo booth that might be able to share your design/ideas?
I recently upgraded my camera and was thinking I could use my old D40 as part of a photobooth setup. I am mostly thinking of this in advance of my brother's wedding, as he has a photog booked but does...
