Here's me: Instagram I've only just started to get into it, but it's fun so far - even if there are only 13 people following me! :)

    Tonight's moon in Western Australia

From my backyard to be specific. For you in the USA and Europe, this is what your moon will look like, since I'm in the future! :) This was taken on a Nikon D800E, 500mm lens with 1.4X teleconverter (so, 700mm equivalent), 1/250s, f6.3, ISO400.

    24-85mm f/2.8-4D or 24-70mm f/2.8G

I have a Nikon 24-120, and it's a fantastic lens. It's what I use when I'm on holiday and don't want to cart all the gear, and it does a great job. I also have a Nikon 24-70 f2.8, and I tend to agree with @Braineack - it isn't as good as everyone would like to think it is.

    Tamron vs Nikon 24-70mm/2.8

I have the Nikon version on my D800E. I have also tried a friend's Tamron 24-70 f2.8. Other than some minor vignetting, the Tamron had a better IQ than the Nikon. However, I didn't test things like bokeh from bright lights at night etc., which is one area where there may be an important...

Looks like it's been a successful trip. This is actually a shot from 2012 that I re-processed with updated software, as I do from time to time. :)

Adding realistic fire in Photoshop... HELP?!?

Adding realistic fire in Photoshop... HELP?!?

If you have Photoshop CC, you can use Filter->Render->Flame. You'll need to create a path, but that's easy enough. A quick Google search should show you how to use it.

The new athletics season has begun

Sure, Gary. The state athletics association holds a meet each week during the season (which runs until March/April). All the various local clubs gather at the Western Australia Athletics Stadium, with a build-up to one of the national/international meets and the state championships.

Just what I was going to suggest, goooner. :) All of them are f4, with the exception of #5, which is f5.6. Most of them are at 1/400s, although one or two were at 1/320s. ISO was 6400 for all except one or two, which were at 5000. I used a Nikon D800E, with a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens.
