Last minute outdoor portraiture equipment suggestions

Hey community, I am doing some portraits as a favor to a couple friends of mine. I would love for them to turn out as nice as possible. I am curious if there are any suggestions for some last minute must have equipment for outdoor portraits in evening light. I have a camera store about 15...

    Few photos for your judgements!!

Be careful with your "instagram" effects. Having a vintage look to photos can ad a lot to them. Unfortunately what I personally see (on a near daily basis) are simple photos that lack composition or subject. New photographers tend to use heavy processing techniques in order to compensate and...

    Motorcycle? Motorcycle.

Thanks for the comments guys, I wish I could have used some other light sources, but this was all done with light painting. Just had a flashlight, my camera with a kit lens, and a tripod. However when I do get the opportunity to get some lighting equipment ill try out some of the things that...

    Motorcycle? Motorcycle.

A friend of mine asked me to break out my camera which has been gathering dust for about a month now, and take some stills of him on his bike. This was the winner of the night.

How to deal with half-open eyes?

Take some of those Chinese collar pins (the ones that stick into your neck if you move your head down a little) and put them in her eyes! :fangs: Or the liquify tool in photoshop too, that works...

    Out of nowhere

I found these cool little things in my front yard nestled down in the grass. I was fascinated by their structure Edit: I titled the thread Out of nowhere, because the first person who saw this shot said that it just seemed to be floating at first, or coming out of nowhere. And I thought that...

    A Beautiful Plant

Thank you. I am as much in love with the space around the plant, as the plant itself

    A Beautiful Plant

First photo post in a while :D I was out and about and this beautiful plant happened to catch my eye while looking at a wilting garden.

    How do I get started?

Similar to my story, without the snowballing part yet ;) I got a Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 about three years ago, along with a Brownie, and some other vintage equipment. And because I was into vintage and antique things got them functional and shot with them for a couple months. During those...

    How do I get started?

Do pro's take on apprentices often though? All the "pros" who I have talked with that were open to the idea of having a student, assistant, apprentice, etc. Have all been those 30 day wonders you speak of. And I as much want to be in an environment where I am learning a lot, as well as delving...

    How do I get started?

I presume your speaking in reference to the type of thread this is. I am not on these forums enough to know if these threads are posted often. However, with all due respect, I feel as though a sarcastic response such as "Another one..." is much less productive to me, than just not commenting...

    How do I get started?

Hey everyone, I'm sure some of you have seen me around on this forum for the last year and a half or so. Anyway, I just graduated highschool and I am looking to jump right in to a career path relating to photography. And my question is how do I do that? I don't plan on getting a degree in...

    Mountain Landscape C+C Please!

Here is my re-done version. All I did was try out the crop suggested, and arc'd up the mid tones. Compaq, for me the shadow to highlight contrast is too heavy, and it feels like its just on the edge of posterizing

    Mountain Landscape C+C Please!

Feel free to post your edit. Fortunately I have the original psd, and the reason it probably looks a little muddy or dark in the midtones is because I have an 'S' curve in the tonemapping curve histogram. Easy to undo!

    Rust of been the years

I would really like #3 if you didn't clip off the top and bottom of the speedometer. Perhaps some focus stacking as well, however you previously mentioned you didn't have your tripod. Interesting shot anyway. EDIT: I took the liberty of taking the tonemapped image that vipgraphx provided and...
