    The R7 Thread

I created a thread like this after I purchased an R6 as means for others to share thoughts about the camera. It is not a review. I got the call that my R7 was at the shop a week ago and would have to wait one week to get my hands on it as I was a continent away. A little background. Before...

    Nice color contrast.

Weekly challenge 6/6 - 6/12 Your World in Macro

Highlights what can be done with a real macro lens. I prefer the first one as well. If there were no breeze that might even lend itself to focus bracketing. Now if you can just get that little frog to pose on top of it.

Weekly challenge 6/6 - 6/12 Your World in Macro

Not what I set out to shoot but nearly stepped on this little guy on the walk up the path. Not sharp but still fun. Nice thing about turtles, they keep still.

    The Canon R6 Thread

Excellent. I use the EF 100-400 4.5-5.6 Mii L on the R6 and a Canon 300 f 2.8 IS (an almost optically perfect lens) and when sifting through a sports event where I used both it is hard to tell them apart. Also, I strongly suggest you learn to change settings and review images through the EVF...

Weekly challenge 5/9 - 5/15 One! Singular Sensation

These are great. There is a ghost in that window just out of sight. I can hear the crackle from the LP...as it should be!

Weekly challenge 5/9 - 5/15 One! Singular Sensation

Once again I'll try to do better later in the week. I wasn't really thinking about the challenge today when I shot this. But it came to mind when I was editing. In this case I thought compositionally the square might isolate the eagle rather than using the more traditional rule of thirds...

    Weekly challenge 5/2 - 5/8 Red

Wow, lotsa great red photos. Unlike my first submission, which was red in name only, this one is clearly red. From my office window. Virginia state bird. Straight out of camera other than a little cropping. If I were to edit it I might actually bring the saturation down to make it more...

    Weekly challenge 5/2 - 5/8 Red

I'm pretty sure that's what was expected. I don't know how to do it but that would also interesting if everything else was B&W except the car.

    Weekly challenge 5/2 - 5/8 Red

I didn't name it .... Female American Redstart taken on the Skyline Drive today. Ok, I'll try to stick with the spirit of the challenge with a future post. Honestly, I think the people who name birds are color blind.

    Weekly Challenge 4/25 - 5/1 Bokehlicious

Those shots were from a High School game last evening. I just wanted to go out a practice some more with this lens. Shooting a prime, as you know, is very different from a zoom. The 70-200 f 2.8 and the 100-400 4.5-5.6 are fantastic optically but require less "vision" to get the desired...

    Weekly Challenge 4/25 - 5/1 Bokehlicious

I've been shooting a lot of college sports and for this got a Canon EF 300 f 2.8 IS L. When shooting sports, I think more about "separation" than bokeh. This lens is stunning and for portraits could produce fantastic bokeh (if you can get far away from the subject) but for sports I think about...

    The Canon R6 Thread

I use reasonably fast cards but nothing special. I don't shoot video and I don't "spray and pray" even though I shoot a lot of sports. I can't remember waiting for the buffer to clear.

    The Canon R6 Thread

Looks good to me but I'm biased. It wasn't until I actually started using the R6 for my sports shooting that I understood why the 1DX Mark III was "only" 20 megapixels. The file sizes are completely manageable especially if you use the compressed format, and there's plenty of headroom for...
