Hello!
Please let me know if you prefer the full shot
or the close up
I like the full shot because the snowy mountains look quite nice, and I like the close shot because the light is cool and the little water drops 'dancing' under the Heron.
Thanks folks!
Hey folks, haven't been around in a while, been putting to use all the good advice I got here last year.
This is two photos of the same scene, but with different focus. Which is better? I haven't cropped them, or done any adjustments to the levels either, so suggestions in that regard would...
hello! This photo as taken on a cloudy day in low light . . . I like the 'action' feel of it and the windblown feathers.
I cropped the scan in closely, so the image may appear grainy (I do have a smaller size of the exact same thing here . . ...
Yes I am at it again, not sure why I feel so compelled to get such detailed shots of rainy roses, but . . . there it is!
Does this strike you in any way, or is it just another boring shot of a boring flower??
(it was just after a rainshower, when the sun was coming out. rose is a bit past it's...
These are from a couple of weekends ago during low tide.
It took me quite a while to get close to this Bald Eagle sitting on the sand; I took a picture about every 10m or so, here are the two closest ones.
then just a TINY BIT closer (it might not look like it because the above image is...
I've been practicing with the digital camera from work - it's an old (probably 5 years) Nikon CoolPix 990 (3.34 megapixels).
Discovered the macro feature recently, trying to get some useful; artsy-type shots. Good? Bad? Ugly??
Curious about light effects on Raz / raindrops on the...
(I realize that this IMAGE is of Landscape/Nature, but my post is actually looking for Critique, so I hope this isn't moved because there are some people that don't frequent the Landscape/Nature forum. TY)
I'm learning about framing or "cropping" - as in how much or how little - and have a...
Ok. I may have learned a thing or two (no crooked skylines in the background, I promise! :blushing: )
I cropped the left of the frame off as unnecessary; really like the image of calm water with the closer Heron dipping his beak in. (doesn't the ocean look like a lake here??). The...
I'm trying to incorporate previous advice - as much as I can in tricky outdoor conditions such as rapidly changing light and subjects that tend to flee at my approach - into my new pictures.
Hope I'm improving! Here is a couple of shots of Great Blue Heron fishing in low tide. I still don't have...
A while ago I asked for advice on framing / composition; I hope I have learned a thing or two from the responses!
This is an extension of the same question . . . I'm basically looking for all and any kind of critique / advice / suggestions. This is a pic of my town on a semi-cloudy afternoon; I...

A mystery bird has appeared at the beach. First, a couple of weeks ago. Notice the big crab in it's beak . . .
It's flying so low over the sand, right on the shoreline, not at all like the adult Bald Eagles I'm used to.
Then, last weekend, I came across him again. Luckily for me after...
The challenge for me is that I rarely get a chance to 'set up' a shot. If I'm close enough to an eagle I just shoot, then deal with the framing later by cropping.
This time I had a chance to put on my small lens, so could try to 'organize' the image slightly. The Heron wouldn't let me get any...
I asked for some critique on here a couple of weeks ago and got a useful comment that my shots were perhaps "too centered" (ie: vaguely boring). We had some clear weather last weekend so I had a chance to try my new learning.
Now, I can't really do TOO much about it, what with a fast-moving...
Hey folks. My favourite thing about my town of Vancouver, Canada is when the tide goes out at Spanish Banks beach in mid-summer. Last year I started bringing my camera on my extended walks way out into the harbour. I didn't really expect it but I ended up getting LOTS of fabulous shots of eagles...
Hello. I am new and have chosen to introduce myself here instead of the 'welcome' forum because I have some specific questions.
There are some bald eagles living at the beach close to my house in Vancouver, BC, Canada and I have been essentially obsessed with photographing them at every...
