Welp, that clears that up! Thanks @KmH!

    Dumb Question, I'm sure...

So, since I've taken the Auto DX off, I should be in FF mode. If I then shoot with a lens and don't have vignetting, I'm good to go and will therefore be using the full sensor. Correct?

    Dumb Question, I'm sure...

Agreed. Haven't had the chance to dig into it yet. I was hoping someone had a "rule of thumb" regarding lenses and FF or experience with how the camera would react with a DX lens attached.

    Dumb Question, I'm sure...

I turned off "Auto DX" in the menu...If the lens isn't compatible, I should see vignetting at that point, correct?

    Dumb Question, I'm sure...

Just picked up my first full frame! I snagged a D750 and have some questions that I haven't been able to track down over the past week of searching. How can I tell what lenses will work without switching into DX mode? From what I can gather, I should be able to turn off the "Auto DX" mode in...

    WTB: Ball Tripod Head

Hey all, I'm happily using my Manfrotto pan/tilt head that I've had for a couple years now, but would like to pick up a ball head to try out. I've got a feeling that I'm going to like it and use it more, so I thought I'd ask around on here to see if anyone has an old one lying around you'd like...

    C&C - Fashion Shoot

Thanks all for your responses! I definitely agree with what you are saying regarding the model being the "star" and the product just "being there." While this is a monthly shoot for a resale boutique, a big part of the appeal is the fact that they are choosing models from actual customers that...

    C&C - Fashion Shoot

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I definitely need to get cracking on learning frequency separation. It's on my to-do list! We are featuring all the products. They are items from the boutique I was shooting at, so all the items were "featured" as an ensemble.

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

Yeah, I know...I guess I was just inspired by the guy that got $5K in camera gear for $500 or whatever in a post here a few days ago... :)

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

Thanks all! I had a feeling that was the answer (NO!) but was secretly hoping I'd stumbled across a decent deal. No such luck!

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

Actually...Just double checked Photoshop's requirements and they recommend 8GB. I'm thinking I might just stick to my MacBook for now rather than getting into something that might end up being more of a frustration than a help...

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

You can. However, depending on the version, you might be limited...Just did some quick research and it appears that some people have had success upgrading theirs beyond what Apple states is possible. Macsales.com recommends 4GB + 2GB RAM boards for a total of 6GB. In that case, I should be okay...

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

Yeah, I understand that...was looking for feedback rather than "requirements." I mean, 2GB might meet requirements but be BRUTAL to edit on in real life...

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

This is kind of what I was thinking...I'd love to snag an iMac for such a low price, but it's not worth the future frustration, I'm thinking...

iMac for Sale - 2GB of RAM too slow for editing?

I've found a 24" iMac for sale that I'm considering picking up just for editing and web usage. My primary concern is that it won't be fast enough to run Lightroom/Photoshop, etc. Can I get your professional opinion? Current specs: 24" iMac 2.8GHz | 2 GB RAM | 500GB HD RAM can be upgraded to...

    First Photoshoot

I agree with the previous posts regarding white balance and extremes in lighting. If you aren't ready to make the switch to off camera flash, just pay attention to highlights and shadows and don't be afraid to move around to get the lighting you need. Also, take some time to either search for...

Help with hair masking - PLEASE!!!! For the love of gawd... help!

Yeah, the tonal similarities make it difficult. What about going extreme with your contrast/exposure or whatever to get her to "pop" off the wall a bit better while you do the masking and then tone it back down once you start editing the final image?
