Konica Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II Film Scanner

Have had this scanner for a couple of years now and was very happy with it. Recently all my scans are dark by at least 1-2 stops and the colors aren't as accurate any more. Could the scanner be going bad? I have read about a IT8 calibration slide that I can use to make global corrections...

Have had this scanner for a couple of years now and was very happy with it. Recently all my scans are dark by at least 1-2 stops and the colors aren't as accurate any more. Could the CCD be going bad? Is there such a thing as a calibration slide that I can use to make global corrections...

need advice on filters and step up rings

I use polarizers frequently when doing landscape photography, so I find it more convenient to have a separate polarizer on each lens. For star filters or graduated neutral density filters, I use the cokin holder and have step down rings for each size.

what am i doing wrong? focus/sharpness/lighting help needed...

In all these shots you still haven't moved the aperature away from f/4. Why are you using manual mode? You need to use a smaller aperature such as f/8, and you need to use the flash to get a fast enough shutter speed when using f/8. Forget uping the ISO setting. 400-800 is too grainy. stick...

Not with flash! Thought that was understood since we were talking about indoors.

    Aquarium Photography

some lenses also have a mimimum focusing distance, so if the subject is too close, it's impossible to get in focus. A polarizer will help remove glare from the glass.

Apeture? What do you use it for??

HOW AND WHEN TO SELECT THE APERATURE I shoot exclusively in Aperature Priority mode. The aperature I use depends on the circumstances of the image. 1. A larger aperature will allow faster shutter speeds. This comes in handy for shooting distant wildlife, or fast moving sports, or night...

when Buying a lens for your dSLR

There are 3 main reasons for having or using a more expensive f/2.8 lens rather than a middle of the road f/3-f/5 lens. 1. Optical superiority. Brighter visually through viewfinder. 2. A larger aperature will allow faster shutter speeds. This comes in handy for shooting distant wildlife...

    How much should I charge?

Matted photographic 8x10's sell at Florida art shows for around $25. If they're unmatted and inkjet prints, I would think $15-20. Since he wants 18 of them, a volume discount is in order. I would put it at around $10-15 each. The only thing that really matters, is what is he willing to spend!

DOF-I think this is the right forum..

Then you weren't talking about DOF, you were just doing selective focus, with the same DOF in all shots. In each shot, only one set of leaves were in focus. That is a shallow DOF using a large aperature. If you used a small aperature such as f/22, all leaves and fence rungs would be in...

    U.S trip

I beg to differ! While Florida is very flat and doesn't have much subject matter for landscape photography other than beaches and swamps (Everglades), Miami does have a great skyline for night photography. Check my Miami skyline page: http://GilTphoto.com Also many spots in FL for bird...
