    Advice, Opinions, C&C Please!

Thanks everyone for your input. Just to be clear, I left the images this wide because I wanted to hear how YOU would have cropped it in camera. I do like them the way they are, but I realise portraits are more traditionally shot tighter than this. As I mentioned, I shot these using the...

    Advice, Opinions, C&C Please!

So I've decided to take the leap from landscapes to portraits. I plan to start shooting engagement, family, newborn portraits once I obtain some flashes/lights, and only after a lot of practice/reading. I also plan to start assisting some pro's with weddings and eventually start shooting on my...

    Brenizer Method

This is my first attempt at the Brenizer Method. Basically its multiple telephoto images stitched together to create an image with very shallow depth of field. It works awesome for portraits, but this guy is the closest thing to a model I could find. I was surprised how well they turned out for...

    Photographing Waterfalls Lakes & Streams

I thought I would share this blog article I wrote on the Beginners' Forum, as its geared towards beginners, and hopefully will help some people out. <Link Deleted> If you have any questions or comments I'd really love it if you use the comments field on the bottom of the blog post itself, to...

Symmetry - Andl Metro Station, Prague

I got up at 5am the other day, in order to get to this location before the morning crowd. Despite my effort, there were quite a few people already on their way to work. I had to take multiple exposures and blend three of them to remove the people. I thought the image would need to be HDR to...

    Astrophotography / starscape head ache

I'm not an expert on astro photography by any means, but I think the red tint looks like light pollution.. as far as I know, I don't think 5-7 km is nearly enough distance to escape the light pollution of a 'major light source'... depending on how bright it is of course. A bright moon will...

    Mushroom Season

I saw the mushrooms which my girlfriends mom and sister picked yesterday drying in the window, the way they were spread out gave me the idea to make this image. I went and grabbed a wooden cutting board and began arranging the mushrooms on it, about 45 minutes later I was finally done and...

    The Dancing House - Prague

I agree, but unfortunately I was wide open at 18mm and as far back as I could get without having traffic lights and posts in the foreground. The building is right on the corner of a very busy intersection. If you look up other images of this scene on google, you'll see all the photos are either...

    The Dancing House - Prague

Thanks folks! Yes it is kind of a stressful place to stand for an hour as well.. for a guy who's used to the mountains :D I had to clone out one of the cable-car cables that ran across the sky. Thanks for the tip ajroder, I plan to shoot the Letna Park vantage point at sunrise.. I've already...

In need of some serious advice

I agree with everything that's been said. Also know that the only thing a UV filter is good for on a DSLR is to protect the lens, I would suggest replacing it with a polarizing filter, which will probably help a bit with the haze and increase your colour saturation.

    The Dancing House - Prague

Here is an image I took last night of The Dancing House in Prague, Czech Republic. My usual subject is landscapes in the Rocky Mountains, but I'm currently in Prague visiting my girlfriends family. I was hoping to get a shot of the sunset from the Vltava river towards Prague Castle, but the sun...

    Forgotten Childhood

Nice scene for sure, as everyone has said.. I picture the best scenario for your 're-shoot' being either golden hour with some nice clouds, or slightly after with the clouds lit up in a pretty pink.. I even think it might look cool if you wait until the kids are tucked into bed, and go back...

    Stars Over The Lake.

I agree 100% with Aloicious, you should print out his guidelines and take them with you next time and you should come home happy with your results! If you just listen to him and ignore this post you will be set, but just to reiterate in my own words... As a general rule, which would...
