Good idea for a thread... My maternal grandfather at far left, taken in central Tennessee around 1905. My dad with his B-17, 1943 (taken in North Africa I think) Off-topic, but here's a picture he took while his plane was under attack, over Germany in late 1943 or 1944. A great aunt...

    WATER

Yes and no. The Aleutians are volcanic as opposed to the (mainly) metamorphic rocks in the Hebrides. The lowland areas look similar in that there are few trees. In the case of the west of Scotland and the Western Isles that's mainly due to overgrazing by generations of sheep; in the Aleutians...

    WATER

How about some slide scans (mostly 1977 - 1980) from the Aleutian Islands? Followers of the TV series Deadliest Catch may recognize some of the place names. Two from Akutan (floating fish/crab processors) Summer Bay, Unalaska (aka Dutch Harbor)

    AUTOMOTIVE - Your Car Photography

After a little research I determined it was Briggs Cunningham driving the No. 31 Porsche. Cunningham was the captain of the winning Americas Cup sailing team in 1958. This car finished 7th in the USRRC GT race pictured (May, 1965) behind the Ken Miles Cobra (shown in the previous picture)...

Midtown Manhattan buildings, scanned from a 1970 slide and rendered into B&W due to unrecoverable color shifts. The "stepped back" facades on the buildings reflect a 1916 zoning law intended to allow more sunlight to penetrate into the canyons.

A couple from Joshua Tree National Park using various filters in PaintShop Pro... And a row of lanterns at the wonderful Naritasan temple complex (just minutes from Tokyo Narita airport) that I tried to turn into something like a mandala, also using PSP.

Images from the Aleutians, ca. 1980

I've been scanning old slides for some time now and thought some of these pictures from the Aleutian region of Alaska might be of interest. I worked in the area for several years, but only took my camera with me a few times, so the collection is not as extensive as I'd like, but it is what it...

    My wife's pictures from Kenya

My wife passed away a few years ago and I've been reluctant to post some of her pictures here because, well, they aren't mine. But I was looking at them recently and I think they should be seen, so I'm going to post a few from a trip she made to Kenya. The trip was organized by a big...
