I was unsure where to post this so il just put it in here,
Looking for some advice on my Canon SX700HS, the lens has been problematic for a while and today it finally decided to stop working. From what ive read its a common fault on this camera but i cant find any information on repairing it...
A 12-28mm is something i would consider, the new lens doesnt need to exactly fill the gap i have between 16mm and 35mm, but close enough. I suppose my main concern is having a wide aperture dx lens and solid build quality, also having the focus motor built into the lens
I would probably look to...
Thats one of my main issues with it, just feels like a piece of junk, and im getting very used to using f2.8 or wider now which i enjoy. Id like to try nail down some good examples for future reference, id like the lens to be middle of the road quality/budget.
I have looked at the sigma lens's...
Very nice photos, I like how you got a different perespective of Eilean Donan castle too.
As an Edinburgh native its nice to see tourists venture past the city centre as the country has alot to offer.
Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Looking for some help picking out a new lens, i have a Nikon D3200 camera so it needs to suit DX camera's, i will upgrade to a D7100 body in the future most likely so i would like to use it with that too without having to take crop factor into consideration for an fx lens.
Untill i move to the...
I appreciate the edit you done, nice to see someone else's perspective of the shot.
I could send you or anyone else on here the NEF file of the shot to have a better go at it, im not the best at editing or shooting for that matter so i imagine someone on here could improve on my attempt quite...
Looking for some C&C mostly on the editing side of things, recently got a 35mm prime dx lens for my D3200 and im still getting used to it.
heres an edited and un edited photo, albeit both cropped to be roughly the same
Shot at f1.8 1/320 shutter speed, matrix metering, ISO 400, exposure...
I always shoot RAW, normally with matrix metering, active d lighting (nikon specific) AWB and noise reduction turned on. its only the 3rd or 4th time ive been out with the camera since i got it at christmas so i should make a better effort. Il be getting a new lens in may so hopefully il have...
Thanks for the input, i should just go out for a day and see how different types of metering and white balance effect the photo, i just had it roughly set up and shot with the same settings for all scenarios.
I would upload the original photo's but the maximum limit for an upload is only 4mb...
I quite liked this photo i took on that day albeit its not the castle, i added a decent amount of contrast and took out some of the grey/whitish look from the raw file. Im also getting to grips with using the sharpness tool, i may have over done it a touch..
Thoughts?
I appreciate the feedback guys,
What would you recommend as far as processing goes? Im not overly confident with the software im using (GIMP) and i do tend to either do way too much or way too little. I find it difficult keeping all the colours natural when adding contrast or playing with the...
Some shots from todays trip to the castle, i grew up in Edinburgh but this is my first time going to the castle since i was 8 or 9 years old.
Took a few attempts to get shots with no one in the way, some could have been better but nevermind.
C&C welcome

A shutter speed of 1/1000 or faster is usually fast enough to capture fast moving objects although depending on your light you may have to bump ISO right up which may deteriorate image quality slightly.
Im not familiar with your camera and im new to photography aswell but if it has manual...
