    Remote Shutter Release Questions

Cool guys, thanks for the responses. I bought an IR remote for like $6, and then randomly, some guy in a market gave me anotherone for free. Interesting to note, the remote has a delay of like a second or so, so its not so good. in the end, the remote has been useful for quite a lot, but for...

Followup - they just ran the rolls through regular (ive changed labs since them, theyre kinda lazy, and they always do a bad job) and scanned them and pulled out the detail with photoshop... it wasnt great but it wasnt bad... some of the pictures came through ok. the assignment went fine...

    photo storage - overseas

Well it really depends how long you travel for, where you go, how much you shoot, and if you shoot in raw or not. I am at the tail end of a month long motorcycle trip across northern (wilderness) china and I have shot about 1.6 gigs a week (3 mb jpegs). I carried three (numbered) 2 gig SD...

    New Camera

The equipment you use dosn't matter as much as the way you use it. For serious $10,000 wedding gigs, it may be a different story, but it seems like ManderB is early in her career and will be doing less expensive (and therefore less financially risky) weddings. $1000 should be enough to get some...

    Remote Shutter Release Questions

Hey Forum Buddies, So I am going on a motorcycle trip with a friend (to Tibet), and I would like to get shots of us both riding at the same time. I have a Nikon D80 and I am looking at my options for remote shutter release. I am afraid that ML-L3 will only operate from short distances...

Pro minimalist photographer going digital, on a budget, reccomendations?

Hi guys, Thanks again for your responses, I went to the market today and picked up a d80 with the d40 kit lens. its 18 to 55 (which is really like 25 to 75) f3.5 and that covers most of my needs, though its still pretty slow. together with an extra battery, the lens, and a uv filter, i...

Pro minimalist photographer going digital, on a budget, reccomendations?

HI everyone, I am a pretty minimalist photographer and i am about to make the switch to DSLR. I am currently using 1970's Olympus OM1 with 24 f2.8, a 35 f2 and a 50 f1.4 lenses. this pretty much covers everything i do. I also have a panasonic dmc-fz20 which i use for macro work and work...

Small and light, and cheap vs. Metal Body and Professional looking, AND new VS Used

Hi All, I'm a pro photographer currently using an Olympus OM1 (which is built like a rock and small and sturdy and I love it), but I need to buy a DSLR because I think my clients look down on me for still shooting film with my old school camera. I am torn between the D50 or D40 (both of which...

First post here - first studio gig - JADE

I think youre right (jeff) about the harshness of the lighting. I used a 85 watt florecent in a "box" thing, but the glare is still very harsh. any suggestion on how to soften it? the jade was very shiny and the only way i found that i could get it not to glare was to put it on top of the box...
