    Interview with Webestang64!

Fun question. The worst, most memorable photos I have seen were processing and printing crime scene photos for a judicial district in Florida that have run the gamut of scenarios. Some of the most memorable were major homicide cases that made national news. I found these photos to be interesting...

    Gray Card for Exposure Help

Hi Smoke665, You pose a great question regarding "accurate as to what?" In a sea of variables, I see your point and that makes sense, especially in digital photography. My techniques vary from ETTR for certain situations, to using my light meter, which is calibrated to my cameras. From there, I...

    Gray Card for Exposure Help

Did that happen to be the WhiBal lens calibration tool, or a knock off?

    Interview with Webestang64!

I loved reading your interview. 12" G.I. Joe's were my buddies in the 1970s also. I had the jeep and would sneak a bowl of ice cream in the back once in a while. You have a very impressive career and your photographs posted here are marvelous to look at. Thank you for an insightful and fun...

    Gray Card for Exposure Help

Hi Folks, I would like to know who makes the most accurate gray card for exposure purposes for film and digital photography. I have purchased a couple different gray cards, neither of them being a Kodak R-27 gray card and there seems to be a discrepancy in tones. For example, I have an 8x10"...

    Canon A1 help

Hi Compur, I appreciated your post very much. It is a good reminder, for me, anyway, to do first things first. Your suggestion is probably the best answer so far. After that lens check, then other factors can be examined. Thanks, Don

    Mamiya 80mm 1.9 or 2.8 Lens for M645 1000S?

I appreciate you telling me that, regarding the 80mm 2.8 N. How was the quality of build in your hands? I know it has a plastic body, which I am not opposed to, so long as it felt right and yielded sharp results.

    Mamiya 80mm 1.9 or 2.8 Lens for M645 1000S?

Optically, the 80mm 1.9 is larger in all respects than the 2.8, with a 67mm filter thread. The 80mm 2.8, has a 58mm filter thread. As for optical quality, I haven't found a head to head comparison, so I am still looking. If one were to purchase the 80mm 1.9, the price is approximately $200.00...

    Mamiya 80mm 1.9 or 2.8 Lens for M645 1000S?

I thought about the 80mm f4 macro also. The vast majority of my shooting will be outdoors with this camera, so the multi coated lens does score big in that regard and I always use a lens hood. I think I will give the 80mm f4 a bit more thought.

    Canon A1 help

Hi Francisco, There is always a possibility that the lens may be faulty, depending on the quality rating of a used lens. Only a lens repair tech can know for sure. The images you uploaded looked sharp to me, however, you have to be comfortable with your equipment. Yes, there is a bit of a...

    Canon A1 help

I agree with @dxqcanada. I used to have an A1 with the 50mm 1.4, and it was sharp for me. What shutter speeds and apertures are you using when you hand hold the camera? One experiment you can try is to mount the camera on a tripod, attach a cable release, put something with text, like a book or...

Hello AC, I think it is great that you found a medium weight CF tripod that will work well for you. That it is good for you is what really matters. JB, I agree with you whole heartedly. When I purchased mine, I researched several other companies, and chose RRS. I chose the TVC-L34 tripod and the BH-55 ball head. My Canon 5D3 Mk. IIIs have the L brackets for them as well. Really Right Stuff's precision in their CNC milling is exacting. I am...

Oops, sorry. I just came off a binge myself, and far be it from me to be an enabler :allteeth:. If you have a vintage Manfrotto tripod with a Bogen mount, keep it and use it. They are great and worth the effort.
