doesn't necessarily have to be sharpening but there's maybe some elements I could enhance, maybe increase the exposure...

well, in the 1st pic above, the face is half in shade half out - not sure what else I could have exposed for?
I figured it showed the animal...
also, presumably if the animal is half in the shade, there's no exposure that would work correctly?

The camera is a ES 400 which has a dust cleaner on the sensor so shouldn't it clean itself?
it could be the fog creating that lighting or maybe the hdr?
How do you know whether it's the sensor or the lens that's dirty?
Any opinions on these?
