In the end you need to general end up with the following zooms 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, x1.4 converter, and for primes you need 24, 35, 50, 85 all...
For moonlights check out the Elinchrom BX500ri. Awesome light and you can use wireless remote with it.

Very nice work.
You have the wrong lens to start with, you need a fast lens f/2.8 or faster..I would recommend a 70-200 unless you are tying to get group shots....
Pre-ordered at Camera's West....they do not charge your card till your name comes up.
Sounds like a short in the card..likely need a new or different card. Same thing happened to me...it was a bad card...brand new out of the box.
I have this lens...I would not consider it a super wide. Not on the crop body. Need to get the Tokina 11-16 if you want super wide.
I would go with the XTi as it is newer and has a higher ISO rating and no doubt less noise at all levels. ISO is important to me.
+1 on the LX5...best P&S I've owned. ISO to 12800, full manual/auto, shoots RAW. S95 is almost as nice, but smaller.
