If you had to choose one lens...

Thank you all for the replies. I think I am going to get both a 24-70 for general purpose and then an 85 for portrait work. Taxes treated me a little better than expected this year lol. Really appreciate it!

If you had to choose one lens...

IMO recording the DX portion of the image is the same as not working. Why would I want to do that after buying a FX camera? And like I said, I do portraits but I also want to be able to take it out of the house and shoot other things like when I go on trips or walks. I've heard pretty good...

If you had to choose one lens...

Thank you for the input. My current portfolio has been shot almost all with the 35mm 1.8 maybe a few shots with the 18-135 zoomed in a bit. But not many. I am certainly not opposed to buying 3rd party lenses or even used gear if I can get both for a solid price haha.

If you had to choose one lens...

For sure, I'm gonna look into it. Thank you. Ideally I want to have an all around lens and then a "work/portrait" lens but that will be down the road lol

Will be getting a d800/d800e here pretty soon. I'll look into that lens for sure. Thank you

If you had to choose one lens...

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have the money to get 2 lenses right away. I will eventually add more but for now I just can't, which is partly why I'm leaning towards the 24-70 then adding a dedicated portrait lens at a later time. The DX lenses will mount up but putting them on a...

If you had to choose one lens...

So I am upgrading to FF soon so my current DX lenses (18-135mm + 35mm 1.8) won't work anymore. I can really only afford one lens off the bat and I have no idea what I want to do. I shoot portraits primarily but also like to take the camera with me on travel. I'm torn between 3 lenses. If you had...

    Critique my website?

Thanks Derrel, When it comes to a genre, I have a hard time actually defining it. I like portraiture a lot. Whether that be headshots, fashion, editorial etc, I enjoy it the most. But I really enjoy product photography. I wasn’t sure if I called myself a commercial photographer if that...

    Critique my website?

I guess I shouldn't have said free. I meant what you said. Making it known it was a one-time thing or pro bono. Not make it sound like I will do everything for free. I have contacted a modeling agency here and they said they would love to do some test shoots and asked me to put together a flyer...

    Critique my website?

I'll be looking your page over shorty, thank you. As for family and friends, all the people you see on my site are family or friends haha I am tapping out my options. And am getting extremely tired of friends bailing on shoots for whatever reason. If it's not something they are paying for, there...

    Critique my website?

Thank you for the reply. I was unsure what to put on my homepage because I didn't want to mimic my "about me"page. I heard about yoast but I cannot use plug ins unless I have a business WP and I only have the personal one :( I am having a hard time getting any type of job, even TFP work to...

    Critique my website?

Thank you! I was toying with keeping the personal section off the site and just use those images for social media and whatnot. How would you suggest I make it more obvious on the home page? Again thank you for the help and compliments

    Critique my website?

Not sure if this is allowed but I am looking for some critique on my website and the work I have selected for it. I am not a web developer at all so I have no idea what I'm doing but I think it looks ok. Just need some other opinions. I'm at the point where I need to start making money with my...

Hey Derek thanks for the help in my post about the d7000 upgrade. You have me strongly considering a D800/D800E. Do you thing the aa filter makes a big enough difference to look for a D800e? I’m really interested in being able to crop/print large. Thanks!

    Time to upgrade...but can't decide!

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I fully am with you on the glass being more important than the body. The g2 tamarins have been getting amazing reviews. Buying used always makes me nervous. Also my main concern is the age of these cameras both new and used. The fact that they came out...

    Time to upgrade...but can't decide!

I have considered the d750, that's actually where I started my research but then was drawn to the d810, and then onto the d850 lol. I do use off camera lighting and understand iso performance isn't as important. But there will be times where im traveling or at some events so it would be nice...

    Time to upgrade...but can't decide!

Thanks for the input. I do plan on buying a few pieces of good glass. probably the 24-70 and 70-200. would like one of those to be the nikon model but the new tamrons have gotten stellar reviews. I am aiming more towards portrait work with the occasion landscape for fun and products shots as...

    Time to upgrade...but can't decide!

DX 35mm. So this will be a whole new setup basically. Been toying with the idea of a 24-70 instead of the 70-200 but regardless, a new lens will be bought either way. I know the d810 is a huge resolution bump and still does fine video, but the d850 has been getting such good reviews it's hard...

    Time to upgrade...but can't decide!

I'm currently just using the 35mm prime so I will be buying a new lens with either body. Looking at the tamron 70-200 2.8. I know they will both last long physically but I meant more so in terms of the performance/technology. I do like the resolution and 4k video of the d850 but will the d810...
