    Hello... again!

Ah TPF, I was lost but now I'm found! Phew! I don't remember why I left here, I think I found myself getting busy with work and, as what happens, life took over. If you don't remember me, I'm Sarah. I used to be an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, here in Essex. I'm now training to be a...

Help! How do I get the perfect shot?

Hey everyone, I haven't been around for a while, but I'm hoping you can help me with something. On Sunday the Tour de France is passing right near where I live and, it having been something I've wanted to see for years I'm naturally heading down there to see the race. I'd love to get...

    400D Flash Issue

I have recently bought a 400D and am discovering that the onboard flash is turning into a bit of a hindrance. It pops up automatically if it feels that there's not enough light regardless of the settings I choose to take my photo. I have combed the book that came with the camera to see if there...

    New Software Question

I finally have my first digital SLR on it's way to me and I've recently changed laptops so I'm currently without any graphics software. To date, I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements which, for little unskilled me, was quite satisfactory. I'm looking to purchase some new software but...

    Back to it.

I am such a bad member. I haven't been here for ages because, once again, life ended up taking over everything. But things are finally calming down and returning to normal and today I have had the best surprise. We finally received our long overdue backpay from work putting my bank account in...

    For Absent Friends

I found this bench the other day at a nearby country park and felt I had to do it justice somehow. I hope you think I did :blushing:

    Storm Clouds Gathering

Took a stroll around a nearby Country Park this afternoon, and even though the weather wasn't too great I managed to get this photograph...

    Windmill

Stopped at a windmill I've been driving past for months now this afternoon. It's much better closer up... 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Someone let me into the secret...

I've been a member here for well over a year (probably nearer two but who's counting) and I am finally starting to creep towards the big four-digit comment count. I have managed that with coming onto this website almost every day, so seriously people, how do you do it? 10,000+ comments! I...

    Down by the sea

Taken in Jersey, St Brelade's Bay. I spotted this while I was eating pizza, and couldn't finish eating fast enough to go and take the shot. I really like how this one came out.

    Abuse or art?

You must have heard by now the controversy sparked by Jill Greenberg's photographs of crying children as shown here. She gave the kids lollipops then took them away in order to capture their reactions and now she is being accused of child abuse. Seriously, has the world actually gone mad?!?!?

Must be just me that likes this one then...

My first time in the critique section so looking forward to some opinions. I posted this recently in the general gallery: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58071 59 views and not a single comment. That leads me to believe it's not a great shot like I first thought, so how...

    On The River

I picked the right moment to be strolling along the river in Maldon just recently, when this lovely barge came sailing right past...

    Preparing for winter...

People on this forum living in England will understand me when I say how much I struggle with the sky in my photographs. I'm unlucky enough to live in a country where the sky is largely overcast most of the year and even unluckier in that all the days the sky has been beautiful I've been at work...

    The Rebuild

Our town centre is getting a face lift. The old (and might I add decrepid) bus station has been torn down and for the last few months 2 giant cranes have dominated the skyline. A friend and I had to go down there and take some photographs...

    Getting to grips...

...with the "new" camera. I was tempted to put this in the critique section but since I was still getting used to the new camera I have no idea on any of the technical stuff with this shot. But tell me what you think anyway! This was taken at about 5am outside where I work. I...

    The Tunnels...

These 2 were taken in Jersey a month or so ago in the Jersey War Tunnels, a large underground hospital dug out of the rock during the German Occupation. These are a couple of the tunnels that were never completed. I was trying to capture the atmosphere down there as well as the scene.

    I love birthdays...

...because then you get given cool presents like this! I finally have a decent camera bag for when I go out on my little treks. Hurrah

    Advice on lens cleaning....

I'm an absolute newb when it comes to SLR's and lenses. I have a second-hand Minolta 7000 and it looks like all the lenses and filters have got a fair bit of dust on them. What's the best way to clean them without causing any damage? Thanks! ;)

    Help, birthday coming up...

... and I'm looking to get a digital photograph printed, mounted and framed to give as a gift. But do you think I can find a website in the UK that provides this service? Everything I've found wants to turn it into a canvas and I really don't want that. Any suggestions from the British...
