    As we were photographing some of the Pryor Mountain Mustangs on their home range, we heard a rustling sound in the nearby timber. The horses also heard it and stopped in their tracks. They listened for a few moments then turned around and took off to safer grounds.

It's been a long-time passion of mine attending rodeos and capturing the expressions and body language of the ride. That horse was determined to send that cowboy airborne at Home of Champions Rodeo in Red Lodge, MT.

    The beautiful blue-eyed mare of the McCullough Peaks herd brought new life into the fold. One more member of a historic tribe that can be traced by DNA back to the original Spanish Mustangs of Cortez. Some McCullough Peaks horses tested as descendants of horses owned by the Royal Family of England.

This day as I was changing lenses on my camera in front of my truck, I looked up and I see a wall of multi-colored coats stampeding my direction. It was a moment of pure joy listening to the thundering sound of their hooves.
