Always nice to see Zebra doing this. I believe its not only to rest but it allows them to keep an eye on predators in two directions at the same time.

These two would not keep still. I couldn't quite manage to get the right spot to capture them the way I would like (head on for the drinking one) so had to settle for this viewpoint. Such is life in the wild!

I took quite a few shots of this lioness coming through the grass. Initially, I just glanced and didnt even rate the imported files. I had others with clear lions, kills, action shots etc that caught my attention. It wasn't until at least 8 months later just revisiting lion images did I take a...
These lions were with a buffalo kill when the hyenas started appearing.
They soon got tired of them getting too close and this scene unfolded in a few seconds.
I decided to exclude the most graphic pictures of the hyena ripping the lions jaw.

Topi (Coke Hartebeest) are often thought of as the Guardians of the herd. They are normally the ones to warn the buffalo, zebra and wildebeest of predators. They also tend to be quite brave and take a stance on old ant hills to get a better view of the area.

Interesting watching all the interaction, I liked the way the cubs wet fur rendered. The group went away and came back after a while, a third cub was dead, possibly it drowned or was weak. The mother stayed with it for a while then they all left

These bucks spend most of their time in wet swampland, their hooves are specially designed not to rot in the water and their fur has an oil that makes it water resistant. The oils also have a bad taste making it less appealing to predators. I've not seen many or any lion kills with them
