that is an awesome shot.. I have an Nikon D40 also. .and I have no idea where to get 3min exposure or go all the way to F5.6 on it.. mind telling me??

ok.. im still a noob. .i found the f5.6 but do you mean by 3min exposure that the shutter stays open for 3mins?? if thats what you mean.. mine goes to 30seconds and after that says BULB?? what does that mean??

i just used a wireless remote... i can get up to 30 minute exposures

I'm surprised the reflective material on the stop sign isn't brighter.

if there is hardly any light to reflect, then it won't be bright at all.

Besides this, sorry to say, but for me this images does not do much. I am having trouble with the composition which appears odd to me. I often like centred images, but at least for me it does not work with this one. Maybe if the stop sign was more to the right, there was less sky and less of the foreground, it could be intense, but the way it is now .... not for me.
