DC lies on a weather boundary. If the storm comes out of the west, it straddles the Appalachians and the northern and western suburbs will get the white stuff. If it comes out of the south or a low-pressure hangs out off Cape Hatteras, the pig will go up the Chesapeake Bay and dump the snow to the south (where I am) and the east. The southern storms also produce more snow than the western ones, because of the Appalachians.NE freaks out at the first snow of the year, then we usually settle in. This year if the temp drops to near normal we freak out.
