There is a photo I would like to enter in the around the house contest but how do I make it down to 150kb with detail. The photo relies on detail a lot( spiderwebs, rust, etc....

Smaller size is better than smaller compression. Small compression will definitely kill small detail.

I suggest resize the image with either a sharp bicubic or lanczos resizeing algorithm and save as a reasonably good quality jpeg (Q7 or Q8 out of 12)
