I have a 18-200mmVR. When I zoom it out to 135mm and look through the camera, then I zoom out to max at 200mm I don't see much of a difference. I DO see a difference but not much at all. I was wondering is this normal? Can someone with this lens confirm this with me. Thanks.

How much difference did you expect to see?

I'm going to break your lens down as if it were several smaller ones.

When you start at 135 and zoom to 200 you are increasing magnification by a factor of 0.48 so a 135-200 zoom has a zoom ratio of 1.48:1.

To zoom from 18 to a 1.48:1 ZR would give you an 18-27 zoom.

The reason the difference doesn't seem as huge is because your starting point is so much larger. Here's another example. We have dealt with the 135-200 lens, so cut it off and leave us with an 18-135. That's a 7.5:1 zoom ratio.

One last example. Your 135-200 zooms 65mm for a 1.48:1 ZR.

Take the short end and add 65mm and you have an 18-83 zoom with a 4.61 ZR.

Good point. It is a matter of diminishing returns at the long end. While 10mm is a major difference at the wide end, 10 on my 70-200 is nothing.

Oh I see. I think I get it, somewhat. Hehe. But as long as this is normal correct?
