My first try to create a 1940 glamour style photographs.

As mentioned your light is too hot and perhaps also a little too soft. Facial shadows and sometimes even hard light are a mainstay of 1940's style portrait photography.

Irving Penn
is a good photographer to look at for inspiration in this direction.

I'm out of the choir. I love it and to me it's perfect. I would even charge light fall down at the corners (so hiding cut elbow). Really nice shot!

Picture, beside the hot light, is beautiful. Yet too modern to pass as Forties. The look then was bit on the soft side.

In trying to recreate a certain look, it might be a big help to look at some examples.

yep, doesn't quite passo forties but I like it anyway. Maybe sixties?

May be try lower sharpness and add grain.

:1247:Yes, certainly. But, especially with women portraits there is also question of hair style, makeup, maybe clothing. It will be not easy to recreate that aura. :chuncky:

Nice try but I have agree with just about everything here.
Overly harsh light source, highlights that are approaching meltdown and modern clothing are all working against you for a 40's portrait, but hey, practice and experimenting are half the fun.
