I bought this for $500 around 1988 and "restified it" while I was stationed in the Air Force. I figured I'd take a drive to the old Castle AFB Tuesday afternoon. Took advantage of the recent rains. Water was about an inch deep and my feet got soaked on the middle two photos, but I got the shots I wanted!

Stock? Numbers-matching? What's under the hood?
Unfortunately no. When I bought it the original engine/trans were long gone. They guy that I bought it from (a good friend) had a Pontiac 455 from a 70 Bonneville. Currently it's .060 over, TH400 and a Ford 9-inch rear end w/ 3.00:1.

I'm going to ask my daughter to do another video this weekend, but I have this from when I finally drove it again after garaged for 10 years:

Was a flash used in the last 2 photos?

Love that body style but you have to be super careful around those sharp body lines when painting. I sprayed that color about a year ago over antique white sealer.

Nice work on the car Mike. I think the later Firebirds had the 455 anyway so it probably feels right at home in that car. Had a 442 from that time and was always comparing with friends that had Firebirds and goats.

Looking forward to the new video, and take it out for more frequent drives. Can't believe that both Pontiac and Olds are names of history.

Nice set.
Great looking car. I'd be going through a set of rear tires a month if I owned it.

It's looks very nice. I used to own a car I liked thinking was fast. It was just a 1991 Civic Si Hatchback, but I swear, keeping up the body, paint and wax, kept the car running very nice. It was black and I put yellow racing stripes down it and kept my PIAAs lit. I know what the it must sound like saying that about the body, but food for thought. Palm trees, how perfect.

Thanks everybody!

Pontiac blocks from 326 to 455 are the same externally, so they all look the same.

It is a shame that Olds and Pontiac are now extinct.
