2 photos for criticizing

Hi! This is my first post in this forum (although i've been reading in the shadows for several months!)

I've taken part in a photocontest, and I would like some critiques on this 2 photos. The subject of this photos is wireless sensor networks using low power (the blue color stands for that):

I dont really like the first one, looks like something dropped in front of the web. maybe if you gave the silk a blue hue??

now the second show I think is very cool. normally I'd be like eh, but throw in the title of "cold light" to really get that "ahh ha" effect.
