Hey Guys,

Thoughts on this one? I decided to go with B&W for this one since the car was black with chrome parts and the background was pretty busy as far as color with the building, the trees and sky. I wanted the car to be the focal point. It would probably be the focal point anyway, but I found the colors in the BG distracting.

Thanks,
Danny

After looking at it a bit, I found the original a little flat. I made a slight curves adjustment. I think it has a bit more punch now. Yeah?

I wanted the car to be the focal point.

That's exactly my problem with the picture. The background is still too distracting... It's basically an exposure issue, but if you work a little more in the B&W conversion, you can probably improve that.
You were right, the first one was kinda flat... but the second one still is... I'd go way more aggresive on that conversion, in order to gain more contrast and focus the attention on the car.

Do you have the coloured version of this? You could get a focal point be emphasising the colour of the car. And also try a wider aperture to blur the background or evn try zooming into the car a bit

I agree with LizardKing's C&C, and with Joshua suggestions. I think that busy background is the biggest problem.

Thanks Guys. Lemme see what I can do.

So... Here's my edit. I used a gaussian blur for the background and lowered the brush opacity as I got closer to the focal point, which was the fornt tire of the car, to try to make the blur as natural looking as possible. Also, I tightened the crop and added even more contrast to the car only.

That's a decent improvement towards eliminating the busy background. I'm not a big fan of artificial blurring (as much effort as you've put into this, it still looks PSed I'm sorry to say), but I understand one cannot always go back and re-shoot.

Yeah. I hear ya. It's tough to get a decent BG at these events. Always people walking around and/or the locations are not always the best.

How does the car itself look though?

Thanks!

I'm not real keen on the B&W with this car though.

With cars, I need color. Even if it's a black car, etc.
