24-70 no VR?

In reading about the 24-70 mm lens I get the impression that there is not VR. To me, the uninitiated, this would seem strange in such a high end lens??

No need for VR. Plus it would drive the price up to 2000+.

Well, it is one common complaint. As far as not needing....it sure would be nicer if it did!
