I just bought a couple of Sigma lenses online. One was advertised as 28-80mm, but when it arrived it was 28-90mm. What gives? Does anybody know why this is? Is it something I am missing? The other lenses was advertised as 70-300mm and it was just that. I've searched a few online sites for lenses about this but only see the 28-80 ads, no 28-90. Thanks to all who respond.

If it works well, does it really matter? The only effect would be a slightly longer reach. Unless the minimum aperture is vastly different than advertised, then it may not work the way you wanted.

There were several versions of this lens apparently. A f/3.5-4.5 and a f/3.5-5.6. At least one had a macro mode, maybe both.

I suspect the current 28-80 replaced the lens that you got. It probably was nothing more sinister than a typo in the ad.
