$300 - $400 Camera Suggestions

Can anyone recommend a camera in the $300 - $400 range that would be good to use for stop motion type images? The only setting it really needs to have is a manual mode. This would be for my son, he has been making videos with his phone (Galaxy S4) but is running into limitations with what the phone can handle.

I don't think a DSLR is the best option, also not sure I would get a new one in that price range to be honest anyway (and if there is, I would want it to be a Nikon since I already have some Nikon lenses).

At the moment I have been looking at the Nikon Coolpix A900, Sony Cybershot DSC-HX400V and the Panasonic Fz80. No particular reason I have been looking at those 3 other than they seem fairly well reviewed and in that price bracket. Any other suggestions? Or are those 3 all pretty solid cameras to look into.
