40D 100% ISO Crops

A couple people have asked for them, so here are my test results.

I tested 5 iso settings. 100, 500, 1600, 3200, and 3200 w/ Noise Reduction

As you can see, NR helps a little bit. at least it gets rid of most of the pinks/blues. Here are a couple of shots taken at 3200 w/ NR.

The test shot at 3200 doens't look very good...but the real world test shot looks pretty good to me.

I was impressed with the 1600. 1600's what I use on the track with my XT, and the 1600 on the 40D looks real nice. (relatively speaking)

I would hope for better noise control than my 30D, and based on that real world shot, it just may be.

I was impressed over the jump from the 20D. Not jump for joy, praise the heavens impressed, but mildly impressed. I thought with NR it would be better, but maybe my expectations are too high. Guess there is no magic bullet.

 

[Sideburns]

Looks pretty good in the real world shots. It is pretty noisy in the full crops, though...
At least you can still get some usable shots.

After the races this weekend, I will compare the 1600 shots that my XT took with the 1600 shots this 40D will take.

Hopefully the 40D will look better. We'll see!
