50mm 1.4D autofocus stuck

It seems that the autofocus on my 50mm 1.4D is stuck... I read that it doesn't have an autofocus motor so I'm guessing that its stuck somehow... When I focus manually, it's not as smooth as it once was before. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Not with that particular lens, no. Was it dropped or banged recently? It sounds like the focusing helicoid was been damaged or the AF mechanism stripped.

It could have been. It was on my Fm2 in my backpack, which I left at a friend's house. I just got my bag back and the film back was open...

Sounds to me like it bumped and knocked the internals out of alignment.
