50mm 1.8 questions

I just got a 50mm 1.8 I have not tryed it on my other cameras but on my d70 i can't change the f stop in manual. it just errors until i move the the f stop back to 1.8.
 
hmmmm...
Might be a computer issue...could be the lense or your camera. Try it out on the others and see what it does.
 
It's most likely because you haven't locked the lense at the smallest aperture. I believe it's f22 on the 1.8 lense. There's usually a switch on the lense that locks it so make sure that is pulled up or down.

Your 50mm lense is a D lense, which means that it still has aperture rings. This allows D lenses to be usable on older bodies, but newer cameras use the body to change apertures. The newer G lenses don't have this issue because they don't have aperture rings.
