50mm 1.8D on D7000 focus ring question.

In AF mode, I am able to turn the focus ring on the 50mm 1.8D. I can obviously feel that I am turning the camera focus motor while I do this but
I was under the impression that it should be locked. My 55-200mm does not allow me to turn the focus ring in AF however. Is there something wrong with
my lens?

Nothing wrong with your lens, but if you keep turning your focus ring, there could be something wrong with your camera.

If you don't uncouple the lens from the body when manually focusing, you can damage the motor inside the body.

Being able to turn it is normal. It shouldn't be easy to do and you actually kind of have to turn it quite hard to do it.

In any case, stop turning it.
